I am a graduate of the two year Interactive and Motion Graphics (IMG) course at the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) in Truro, and returned for a third year in order to study and master all aspects of the course. In my first year I was trained in general digital arts including basic animation, digital imaging, composition, and web coding. During my second year, I specialized in 3D modeling with special effects as a secondary course. For my third year, I specialized in game design with Adobe Flash as a secondary course.
I have been part of four productions during my time at the NSCC. During my second year I assisted a department of Discovery Channel, M5 Studios, with a television series on ancient weapons that changed the world. I was a 3D modeler and animator for them, and was the only student hired after graduation to finish the remaining episodes. During my third year of college, my classmates and I worked with the Truro Police Department to create a game that taught internet safety to students. While this was going on, we were also tasked with designing and creating a game of our own. A classmate and I came up with a comedy action plat-former based on the Knights Templar. I was in charge of designing the mechanics, characters and a single level, and I was the lead character modeler and animator. My latest project came in the spring of 2010 from the Canadian Navy. My class was asked to create a fire safety simulator for one of their ships. I was the lead 3D artist, and had to make sure the other artists' work had similar style, was of the expected quality and on time. This was difficult at times, but I am glad to learn what I did.
